People Place specializes in illuminating stories that too often go untold. From first-person oral histories to feature-length documentary production, People Place provides the consideration and attention your unique story deserves. With script-to-screen services, People Place has the tools to bring your story to life.

With the mission: To Make Lawrence Skateable, Lawrence Skaters Association (LSA) serves as the advocate body for all things skating in Lawrence, KS. Since 2015 LSA has spearheaded the raising of over $300,000 to improve and develop public amenities for Lawrence skateparks. LSA maintains a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Lawrence to administer Edgewood DIY Skatepark, and stewards its flagship "Build-a-Board" program in partnership with the Lawrence Douglas County Housing Authority. Through Build-a-Board LSA has distributed more than 75 complete skateboards (at no cost) to the young skaters of the Edgewood neighborhood.
Marlynne Snare is a Missouri-based Grassroots artist. She is a prolific painter and object maker who has focused her skills on documenting the notable milestones of her family throughout the past several decades. In this time, Snare has created a seemingly never-ending collection of vibrant, illustrative paintings. Her love of family is evident in the work. Each painting, greeting card, wooden cut-out is a carefully crafted window into the life of Marlynne Snare. Snares work can be found throughout Missouri and within the permanent collection at the Grassroots Art Center in Lucas, Kansas.

On June 10, 1882, three Black men, Isaac King, George Robertson, Peter Vinegar, were taken from the Douglas County Jail, drug to the center of the Kansas River Bridge, and lynched from it. On June 10, 2022, the Lawrence/Douglas County Community Remembrance Project Coalition, in partnership with the Equal Justice Initiative dedicated an historical marker in Lawrence, Kansas to memorialize that shameful incident.
